Lake Wallenpaupack: everyone wants their own little piece of it.
There are a broad range of lakefront homes available for sale on Wallenpaupack, from small cottages and cabins to million dollar mansions.
Many people are actually surprised at the prices for lakefronts on Wallenpaupack. While there are a few homes in the $200,000 -$300,000 range, most lake front homes are currently starting in the mid-$400,000′s. The majority of the homes however, fall between $500,000 and $900,000. Nearly one quarter of all of the currently listed lakefront homes for sale are over a million dollars.
Lake Wallenpaupack properties are in demand for many reasons – for one thing, Wallenpaupack is the largest powerboat lake in the area and the third largest artificial lake in Pennsylvania. (Crawford County in northwestern PA boasts having both the largest natural and artificial lakes in the state!). One friend commented to me about a different lake: “The problem with this [other] lake is, as soon as you get going, you have to turn the boat around!” With about 13 miles from tip to tip, Wallenpaupack does not pose that particular challenge.
For clients craving the unlimited horsepower, lots of room to roam, the ability to dock at a restaurant and walk up from your boat to grab a bite to eat, use your Sea-Doos and Wave Runners, as well as fishing, tubing, water skiing, sailing – Wallenpaupack is your place.
The lake is nearly 5700 acres in size with an approximate maximum depth of 60 feet. The shoreline measures about 52 miles – with countless coves and peninsulas offering an interesting landscape. You may find some areas to be rocky and steep, while others are gently sloped and fairly level.
One of the biggest drawbacks for some people, though, is the noise associated with being at a popular spot. That “perfect little cabin” may also give you the drone of traffic on Route 507 – or you may see so many boats on the lake in July that you can’t see the water!
This is to be expected, and believe it or not, there are some quiet times around the lake too…but if perfect peace and constant tranquility is what you are looking for, then you may need to consider one of the smaller and more quiet lakes in the area or look for a property near the no-wake zones.
