The Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania.
My sister-in-law, coming from the Cascades in Washington State, snickered at calling them mountains. Foothills, perhaps. Glorified ant hills…but mountains?
Well, when you compare them to something as majestic as Mt. Rainier, or the Rockies, I guess you can laugh at calling these beautiful hills “mountains.”
But hey, The Poconos are a hot destination. I have heard them mentioned more than once in movies and on TV (Sandra Bullock’s Miss Congeniality 2 character, Gracie Hart, wanted to have a romantic weekend in The Poconos…she mentioned it more than once in the movie…) Hey, if it’s good enough for Sandra Bullock, it’s good enough for me!
Nope, it’s not a fast paced life here. Most things shut down by 9:00. A few stay open till 11. We are behind the times in a lot of things (it took us a LONG time to get our first Starbucks, after all.)
It’s a quiet life, and it’s pretty here, particularly in Pike County in the fall. That’s good enough for me.
