Welcome to the Wild Card Wednesday #3!
| WIN a $5 GIFT CARD! Details below. |
One of my favorite things to hear in the whole wild world is the sound of the Canada geese in March, returning from their winter homes to Northeast PA and particularly my corner of Pike County.
The sounds of their enthusiastic honking is as welcome as the damp earthy smell that comes after the first warm day or two.
Today on my way home from the office I spotted this lone goose – I think he got separated from his flock! (Or is it gaggle?)

He was crying forlornly (I shot some video but it’s lame…ha ha). I hope his friends and family find him (or her…I’m assuming it’s a gander because he didn’t ask for directoins! ha ha!)
In the distance at the top of the photo, you can see some water – that is Lake Wallenpaupack. This poor lost soul wasn’t even interested in the little pond not to far from him…he just honked, and looked confused.
Hope you find your friends, bud!
| Now, about that $5 gift card. Send a picture for Wild Card Wednesday.
Only a couple of rules: the picture must be your own, or you must have explicit permission from the photographer to submit it – nothing from email forwards or National Geographic websites! Also, it should have something to do with Northeast PA – either the flora and fauna, weather picture, or a picture of life in general – i.e., tubing or kayaking down the Delaware, water skiing, etc. No hunting trophies, please – those will be a future feature. Hurry, email me now!
The deadline for the first drawing is April 26, 2008! |
