The modern ranch home first emerged on the American landscape during the 1920s and 30’s. The aftermath of WW2 saw a virtual explosion of ranch style homes in Surburbia all over the United States. The traditional ranch house dominated the scene throughout the 40’s and 50’s, until well into the 1970’s, when more eclectic, contemporary styles took center stage.

The ranch home has been hailed for its efficiency and oft maligned for its mundane style. Its popularity decreased somewhat during the past 25 years, but it is once again coming into its own as consumers seek a simpler and more affordable lifestyle.
