Wallenpaupack Lakefronts – Neither Sleet Nor Snow Will Stop Me

I closed out 2008 on Lake Wallenpaupack with a slippery slope – at 11 Big Woods on Lake Wallenpaupack to be exact.

I was contacted by some buyers who were curious about this affordable lakefront cabin – it is after all a Gumble style cottage.

If you’re from the area, you know all about Gumble Chalets…if you’re not, here’s a short primer.  Many years ago, Gumble Brothers built several charming cabins around Lake Wallenpaupack.  These cottages are distinctive and feature log style railings and accents, mostly hewn from locally harvested logs, hard wood floors, and a compact but comfortable floor plan.  Designed to be summer cottages, they have an Adirondack flair to them and are locally famous…they are cute, charming, and well built.

The snow was furiously falling from the heavens; and since it was New Year’s Eve, there were lots of holiday travelers around – and not too many PennDot trucks yet.  Were they partying early?

I drove to the cottage, priced at only $435,000, with my customers, thankful that my trusty Honda had new winter tires and a terrific traction control system.  As the wind whipped across the lake and blew snow into our faces, I wondered:  “Am I nuts?  Shouldn’t I be at home snuggled under a warm blanket with my thick sweater and fuzzy slippers?”

Nah.  This is my job – I love selling real estate, even if it is a bit on the chilly side.

My customers decided that this cabin was a bit too small for their use – but I know someone is ready for this charmingly rustic place on a quiet cove (with lake views from living room and from the balcony just off the loft.)

Let me know if you’d like to see it.   (Though if the snow is flying I may actually ask if we can wait till the roads are plowed….)
